The Chevrolet Corvette, also known as the “Vette”, has been produced through seven generations. Its first model was introduced in 1953 as a concept car. It was a convertible model and the founder of the name was Myron Scott. After three years Chevrolet introduced some significant changes by removing the taillamp fins and it had an optional fuel injection system. A nice detail is that back than it was one of the first- mass-produced engines in history to reach 0.75kW per cubic inch. Other changes/improvements were a hydraulically operaed top, four speed manual transmission and a “hybrid” car radio.
We could have picked any generation to talk about, but we choose for the fifth. One of the reasons fort his is that the C5 was one of the most rigorously redesigned Corvette’s ever since its inception in 1953. The production of the fifth generation began in 1996. The complete new design with new concepts and innovative breakthroughs have been carried forward tot he sixth and seventh generation “Vettes”. Remarkable was the top speed of 283 km/h.
